The 1:500 diluted patien's own serum detects granular (round-shaped) pathogens in the cytoplasm of macrophages in the microgranulomas, strongly suggesting visceral leishmaniasis (indirect immunoperoxidase). The diagnosis was confirmed serologically. | ||
